PRAYER IDEAS FOR AUGUST   This month please pray for: Our Sunday School teachers as they have a break over the summer holidays, giving thanks for their commitment to teaching our children; our Summer Sunday School team as they lead our children in discovering more about God; family life and holidays together can be a long time!

CLOTHES CHARITY SALE… after church on Sun 16 Sept from 10.45am in the Hall. All donations will be shared between Whitechapel Mission and Macmillan Cancer Research.  All clothing is either new or nearly new and suitable for all ages from popular high street retailers such as Topshop, Zara, Next, Warehouse and Asos. Please support our charity event and come over after church and grab a bargain or two over coffee. The Golds Family… Lynton, Aimee & Amelia.

FRIENDS OF KENT CHURCHES – RIDE & STRIDE – Sat 8 Sep 2018   I shall be cycling again to raise money for the repair/restoration of Kent Churches in general and St Nicholas in particular.  Mark & I raised £905 last year – 50% of which came straight back to St Nicholas. Please let me know if you wish to participate in this event, cycling, (horse) riding or walking and I’ll provide sponsorship forms etc.    I will leave my sponsorship form in the Library corner and will be available after Sunday services in the hall. HARVEST WEEKEND this year Harvest Festival Sunday will be Sunday 14th October – the 9.30 service will be a Family Eucharist. On Saturday 13th at 3pm in the Hall there will be a Harvest Tea for everyone with activities and tea for all.

VILLAGE HALL LUNCH We need some help to provide a home-style cooked meal for the elderly. The lunch is served in our Church hall on the 2nd Thursday of each month. If you enjoy cooking and would like to join our team, please contact Margaret Stephenson: 0208 460 8809 /

MOTHERS’ UNION Fundraising lunch, 29 Aug in the Hall at 12.30pm for 1pm. John Bernays, a member of the chorus at the Royal Opera House, will entertain us, accompanied by Muriel Partridge.  Tickets £8.  We shall have a raffle and sales Table. WINE QUIZ – A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY   St Nicholas inaugural wine quiz will be held in the Hallat 8pm on 15 Sep. Tickets: £10 per ticket for which you will get 5 glasses of wine. Over 18’s only. Please organise your diaries/babysitters for a fun night.
